In a match where Liverpool sought to recover from their recent elimination from the Champions League, Newcastle managed to assert themselves and take the trophy, despite the effort of Arne Slot's team.
"It was a very competitive match, but we were able to demonstrate our superiority," said Eddie Howe, the Newcastle coach, celebrating the end of the club's long title drought.
Despite this defeat, Liverpool remains at the top of the Premier League and prepares to face Everton in their next match, while Newcastle, now sitting in sixth place in the league, will face Brentford.
In the Carabao Cup final, Newcastle dominated the match and deserved to lift the victory. Dan Burn opened the scoring at the end of the first half, followed by Alexander Isak's goal in the second half. Although Federico Chiesa scored for Liverpool, the time was not enough to change the result in favor of the Reds.
